Primal Info

Level Location Size Time Limit
20 Eastern Thanalan 4 Players 90 Minutes

In order to battle the Primal Ifrit, you will need to reach level 20 and progress your main storyline to the quest "Lord of the Inferno."

Ifrit is a great introduction to the primal battles. This encounter will require party members to be quick at moving out of ground effects, as well as quickly killing an Infernal Fetters.

Phase 1

  • Tank Ifrit near a wall with your back to the wall. This will prevent you from getting knocked around.
  • Spread out and move out of the fire cracks on the ground ( Eruption ).
  • When Ifrit hits 50%, an Infernal Fetters will spawn in the middle. Use cooldowns and kill it quickly. You will be instantly killed if it is not destroyed quick enough.

Phase 2

  • The same as Phase 1, with the addition of Radiant Plume. This will place fire either around the edges of the room or in the center. Stand somewhat close to an edge to have enough time to dodge both.

Boss Abilities:

Phase 1 - Ifrit's Abilities:

  • Incinerate - (Instant) A frontal breath which deals ~100-120 damage.
  • Vulcan Burst - (Instant) A brief shockwave which pushes players back and deals minor damage.
  • Eruption - Cracks the ground below a random player. A few seconds later, an explosion is trigged, dealing ~250 damage.
  • Hellfire - An area-wide AoE that will deal damage based on if the Infernal Fetters was killed or not. It will be an instant death if the Infernal Fetters was not killed. Otherwise, it will deal ~300 damage.

When Ifrit is pulled, he should be tanked near one of the walls, with the tank's back to the wall. This is so that the Vulcan Burst ability does not knock them back. To avoid unneccessary damage being taken from Incinerate, only the tank should be in front of Ifrit. Everyone should also try to spread out to avoid multiple people being caught in an Eruption. If the cracks appear below you, try to move off of them before the explosion.

When Ifrit gets below 50% health, he will spawn an Infernal Fetters in the center of the area. Both DPS should switch off the boss, use cooldowns, and kill this as quickly as possible. As long as the Infernal Fetters dies and nobody is low on health, you will survive the Hellfire that Ifrit will unleash. This transitions Ifrit into Phase 2.

Boss Abilities:

Phase 2 - Ifrit's Abilities:

  • Incinerate - (Instant) A frontal breath which deals ~100-120 damage.
  • Vulcan Burst - (Instant) A brief shockwave which pushes players back and deals minor damage.
  • Eruption - Cracks the ground below a random player. A few seconds later, an explosion is trigged, dealing ~250 damage.
  • Radiant Plume - A ground effect, followed a few seconds later by a vertical blast, dealing ~250 damage. This alternates between the middle and the edges.

After using Hellfire, Ifrit starts to use the ability Radiant Plume. This will create either a ground effect around the outer edge of the area or the center of the area. These alternate, so it is easy to predict where the next plume will occur and move ahead of time. Otherwise, the fight does not change from Phase 1.
